Any of the four digitally generated patterns may be keyed over the input video signal. Each pattern identifies the safe action and safe title areas of the picture, in accordance with SMPTE/EBU recommended practice.
The crosshatch area on three of the patterns is useful for picture component positioning and title alignment (see below).
Patterns may be selected using the front panel switches, or via remote inputs. The BG-2 is available for NTSC or PAL/SECAM video standards.
