Either input may be manually connected to the output under local pushbutton control. An error on the main input forces the output to switch to the standby input. The output automatically switches back to the main input once signal integrity has been restored. The unit may be operated remotely, using the remote control switch connections. The RS-21SDI may also be configured internally for use as a standard 2x1 router, without automated switching.
The switcher features automatic cable equalization and data/clock recovery for the video inputs, and the capability to drive up to 300 m of coaxial cable from each buffered output.
The system is housed in a 1/2 rack-space enclosure, and is available either in a desktop or rackmounted configuration.
