The DS-1224 system module is a 12 x 24 bi-directional routing switcher, designed to accomodate balanced RS-422 signal levels. The unit is completely self-contained in a 2 rack space (2RU) chassis. All switching is performed electronically, and signal paths are selected using the front panel keys. Mnemonics for all sources and destinations are field programmable. A 4 line x 40 character illuminated LCD display conveys system information and status.
All connections are made on the rear panel. Due to the bi-directional nature of RS-422 data, the unit may function as either a 12 x 24 or a 24 x 12 switcher. System expansion jacks allow multiple DS-1224 units to be chained, to a maximum size of 48 x 48.
The DS-1224 can also be controlled serially, and may be incorporated into multi-level routing systems, such as the RS-640%, allowing systems with audio and/or video levels to include an RS-422 level. For this application, the DS-1224 is available with or without local control.
